Pranamaya kosha
Among all the
Koshas, this one really interest me because what happen to me the first time I did
yoga was really unusual. After the first week of practicing yoga, i noticed
that my cravings for earthly desires had increased to the highest level. It was on a level that I had never experienced
before. Such energy that in order for me to disperse it, I need to do more physical
activity like handstands and other tiring stuff in yoga. It did work but every
time I do the asanas surge of energy comes up after a few hours. That is why, I
was really confused at that time on what to do, because I know sooner or later,
if I can’t desipate the energy through physical activity, I might succumb to temptation.
As a result, I seek
advice to a friend who happened to be a Buddhist monk, and then he told me that
I need to sit and meditate. And so I did
(I tried meditation but I was not into it before).
So what happened
was really astonishing. It didn’t really solve my problem at first but after a
few weeks of meditation, I noticed that I was not afraid anymore if the energy
will rise and I was not worried any longer if I succumb to temptation. It
taught me to become an observer, and it made me realize that I don’t need to
react on it. And if continue to observe, the strong urge or surge of energy it
will slowly went away all by itself. That if I just be patient enough and don’t
react, it will just slowly melt away.
It taught me how
to cope with the profound truth that everything changes all the time.
